Liminal

Created for the Slide Project module at NID under faculty guide Sivaranjini. The brief challenged us to build a compelling narrative using only pre-existing photographs from our personal archives, without shooting new footage.

Rather than forcing a fictional plot onto disparate still images, the film relies on pacing, tone, and ambient sound to guide the viewer through an environmental transition.

It moves from the density and motion blur of urban Ahmedabad—street traffic, edge settlements, and cattle grazing on water margins—gradually dissolving into the mist, silence, and reflective calm of rural wetlands and backwaters. The soundscape does the heavy lifting, giving still frames a sense of weight, presence, and passage of time.
